New PocketSurfer netbooklet available "for loyal customers only" - offer
by Staff Writer | posted on 24 April 2009
Instead of 39 quid for a year's subscription to the Internet on the PocketSurfer, why not upgrade! - so suggests the special offer, mailed to existing customers this week. Cost - 99 quid for a year and a new toy.
The PocketSurfer 2 appeared September 2007 with little fanfare, and it works on GSM phone cells only. It is, surprisingly, quite quick, considering it uses GPRS data, not 3G. However, what it lacks is any function when out of range of a phone; it's a terminal to the Datawind servers.
Battery life is excellent! - comparable to a smartphone. Well, it is a smartphone, except it doesn't have voice; just data.
"Limited stock available" reports the official Datawind distributor of this SIM-based netbook; but it seems that there may be alternative sources. Handtec is offering the new box for £108.91 (inc VAT).
Normal price is said to be 200 quid.
