Vodafone NZ is the next mobile operator to join Bebo's Open Mobile Program (BOMP) reports AOL People Networks. "It's a new global partnership initiative which offers the mobile industry a suite of tools to provide their customers access to the Bebo social networking experience," said the company today.
That means that old IT greybeards will have to start complaining the BOMP "really means 'Bill Of Materials Program' and what are these kids up to?"
Bebo announced: "Through the Open Mobile Program, Bebo will work with operators, handset manufacturers and mobile software developers to help them promote, distribute and monetize mobile social media."
This is part of a programme which is gathering some momentum. Vodafone is the second carrier in New Zealand to join the Bebo Open Mobile Program after the announcement of Telcom and building on the announcement of other global operators - 3 in Ireland being the most recent, O2 in the UK, and all major Canadian mobile providers.
