(Shenzhen, China - October 9, 2008) Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world, today announced it has obtained three Wave 2 certifications from the WiMAX Forum for its newest WiMAX base station, the WiMAX DBS3900, and two of its terminal products, the BM325 and BM625, which are all based on the WiMAX 802.16e standard. This underscores Huawei’s strong capability in providing full range of end-to-end WiMAX solutions with high interoperability for operators. The three certifications make Huawei as the owner of one of the largest number of Wave 2 end-to-end certified products. The rigorous Wave2 certification testing was conducted in AT4 wireless laboratory, the WiMAX Forum Lead Laboratory.

“We are very excited to obtain Wave 2 certifications for both our base station products and terminal products. It is a testimony to the quality and maturity of our end-to-end WiMAX solutions that are highly interoperable,” said Mr. Zhao Ming, President of Huawei CDMA & WiMAX Product Line. “Interoperability is very significant to the development of communications technology; Huawei is highly committed to enhancing this development process and proud to be leading the way.”

Huawei WiMAX DBS3900 is based on Huawei’s latest generation base station convergence (LGBS) platform which supports multi-mode functionality, such as WiMAX and GSM. It has passed the testing in both 5M and 10M channel bandwidth according to the latest Wave2 testing version, CRS2.5.0, assures operators more options and more flexibility when deploying mobile WiMAX networks. In addition, it also fully supports Interoperability-Multi Input Multi Output (IO-MIMO) which can increase coverage, data-rates and reliability by simultaneously sending and receiving data by multiple antennas. Thus the WiMAX DBS3900 imbedded with MIMO technology can significantly reduce CAPEX and OPEX for operators.

The BM325, is an innovative WiMAX USB data card, and the BM625, a WiMAX Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), which provide end-users with the means to experience broadband services on the move. Both products passed all Wave 2 testing requirements faster than any other vendor, and Huawei is the first company that has had two WiMAX terminals to pass the testing at the same time. With all three devices now proven to be fully compatible with other vendors’ Wave 2 certified WiMAX devices it gives operators increased confidence to launch commercial WiMAX services.

Wave2 Certification is the latest version of WiMAX Standard issued by the WiMAX Forum to help stimulate the standardization and efficiency of WiMAX multiple products among industry chain manufacturers. The products that have passed Wave2 certification will have the ability to interoperate with other vendors’ WiMAX access points and devices that have passed the same certification process.
