AMD "evangelist" loses the Faith, gets dinner

After 22 years in increasingly important European jobs for AMD, Dave Everitt finds himself suddenly in demand. His job as Evangelist for AMD Live! has been ended, just as AMD comes under real stress with renewed competition from Intel in the mobile market.

AMD isn't the only company feeling the economic pinch, of course, but industry observers have been puzzled to see that Everitt was felt to be surplus. As Hexus reported a month ago,

Anyone who really understands AMD, will know that a great many of the rank and file within AMD believe that Everitt was one of the most key, hands-on architects of AMD’s huge successes in Europe.

Successes which were recently confirmed to HEXUS.channel as amounting to some 40% of AMD’s global revenue.

AMD may well come to miss him; but there's no sign that Everitt is actually missing AMD. Quite the contrary; he's being pursued energetically by several headhunting corporations some of whom have had their eyes on him for a while

Quite a while, in fact; his 22 years had led several people to think he was rooted in AMD. Now he's available, his phone has been ringing.

He told Sniffer: "Well, I find myself having a blast doing lunches, after work (others) drinks, dinner and parties. Had to join a gym as all this food and drink could have potential challenges later..."
