Can/US Enviro-Energy, reports "Using RFID.com" is a logistics and engineering firm based in Montréal, with facilities in Champlain, NY. It "is using RFID technology to manage the mandatory recycling process of stationary batteries as well as uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment and direct current power systems for telecom applications and utilities' organisations."

RFID is a major part of a deal Reliance Retail is about to sign "to strengthen its office products and services offering," reports India Times. The retail major will soon enter into a 51:49 JV with the US-based $6.3-billion Avery Dennison Corp.

"Avery Dennison, globally, has a large presence in pressure-sensitive labelling materials, retail tag, ticketing, branding systems and office products. Its products are sold under two brands—Fasson and Avery. The company has a strong presence in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solution. Analysts feel the JV might also help Reliance Retail’s in-house requirements in retail solutions such as RFID implementation."

According to RFID Journal, Northrup Grumman (recently the subject of a story about a new secret bomber using RFID) has been developing this technology in several defence projects.

The publication's Mark Roberti has announced that he is about to launch an expanded, searchable, online Buyer's Guide to RFID Resources to help companies find the vendors that can provide the hardware, software and services they require. This is normally a print-only publication, now going purely online.

 Real-time location system (RTLS) vendor RadarFind "is extending its system's sensor capabilities to enable customers to track temperatures. The Microchip sensor offers high accuracy, a wide temperature-measurement range and low power consumption—features well suited for numerous automatic temperature-sensing applications within hospitals, reports RFID Journal.

Innovision R&T will probably astonish students of memory, by announcing a "next generation NFC/RFID tag platform with up to 2Kbytes memory." Previous memory capacity of their wireless technology had 96 bytes! The new product will appear soon, with sampling available 2H/2008
