Palm does a million Centro PDA-phones; Apple not impressed

High excitement in the world of Palm: the hand-held pioneer is not actually dead! It has announced sales of a million Centro smartphones.

The near-hysteria which greeted this at Treo Central was somewhat muted by the realisation that this puts Palm way behind Apple in the iPhone stakes.

Apple started selling the iPhone on June 29th, 2007 and sold its one-millionth iPhone on September 10, 2007. So within a couple of months or more they had sold a million iPhones. Palm sold the same number of Centros in about 6 months and to me, that's not too bad of a comparison seeing that Apple is so huge. Of course I realize that the price of both phones differ but still...- Jennifer Chappell wrote.
It puts Apple's startup status into a different perspective. Compared with Nokia, Apple is still tiny; but time was when Palm dominated this phone-PDA business.
