Companies team to simplify 3G home networking deployments

Cambridge, UK – February 05, 2008 – Airvana, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIRV), the company transforming the mobile experience, and Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE: TMS), a world leader in media and communications technologies, today announced that they entered into a global sourcing agreement for Airvana's Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) femtocell technology. As a result of the agreement, Thomson will use Airvana's femtocell products in conjunction with their own residential gateways.

"By partnering with Airvana we will add value to our residential gateway product line and strengthen our innovative offering in the fixed-mobile convergence space. Incorporating such advanced femtocell technologies in our gateway platforms will also further consolidate Thomson's position within the 3G femto home access solution ecosystem of Nokia Siemens Networks with whom we've entered into a related collaboration in 2007," said Georges Laplanche, Vice President of Thomson's Premises Systems business unit.

Airvana's UMTS femtocell products are based on a flexible architecture that allows continuous feature enhancement, enabling the delivery of innovative mobile services. Expanding the company's global partner relationships is an important part of Airvana's strategy to provide operators with a comprehensive femtocell solution to speed time to market for operators and help simplify set-up for end users.

"In order for femto cells to be widely deployed, consumers will expect to take the product out of the box, plug it in and have it work." said Sanjeev Verma, vice president of business development and co-founder of Airvana. "By partnering with Thomson, we believe that our femtocell products will be deployed with the best possible user experience."
