No, the UK iPhone isn't a 3G surprise; it's the EDGE product as predicted

It still remains to be seen whether Vodafone will go ahead with its 3G iPhone contract, agreed three months ago with Apple, when the new product is released in the New Year; but today's announcement of an O2 iPhone deal in the UK is for the 2.5G original device.
Steve Jobs revealed the first half of the European distribution deal today and, as exclusively predicted here in NewsWireless, introduced Carphone Warehouse as the high street retail outlet.
The surprise announcement was the inclusion of a free WiFi hotspot deal with The Cloud.
