Bluetooth advertising hits bars in NY, Chicago, and LA
by Staff Writer | posted on 10 August 2007
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 10, 2007 -- MobiZone Inc. and Zoom Media have announced the launch of a fixed indoor Bluetooth advertising network in over 100 bars and restaurants throughout New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Working in partnership with Paris-based Kameleon Technologies, a leading provider of Bluetooth hardware and software solutions, MobiZone Inc., a USA company, will provide mobile phone delivery of free content including full motion video, audio and graphics supported by the Zoom Media out of home network.
Kameleon Technologies, founded by CEO Fabien Beckers in 2002, has established its track record in Western Europe where Bluetooth enabled mobile phone devices have deep penetration in the marketplace. For more information go to www.kameleon-media.com
"With over 70 percent of new phones being Bluetooth-enabled, offering free content downloads without carrier connection is a growing, dynamic, and unique way for advertisers to engage consumers," said Lee Levitz, Vice President of Marketing at Zoom Media. "Now we can offer our advertisers the opportunity to 'broadcast' free ad-related content like video trailers, music tracks, movie and sports clips, and coupon offers to complement their in-bar campaign."
"The Zoom partnership is an exciting opportunity for us to showcase brands in a highly targeted environment," said Patrick Nagle, CEO of MobiZone Inc. "What's more, we can monitor download 'accepts' in real time and report results to advertisers. Additional mobile services like SMS links and WAP links can be added to campaigns so that advertisers can gauge immediate calls to action and connect with interested customers."
According to Levitz, Zoom's network of restaurants and nightclubs are perfect locations for the Bluetooth-enabled billboards because of the high traffic levels, and the ability to attract affluent, young, trend-setting consumers that often spend long periods of 'dwell time' around the boards.
Out of home media testing with MobiZone Bluetooth content delivery services in the USA have progressed significantly in the past year since the September Grand Central Station launch for the CBS Television Network which offered free program clips of the new fall season, CNN projects on Times Square, Las Vegas NBA weekend retail promotions for Adidas, and other trials with content download rates between 14-25%.
Zoom Media has become one of the fastest growing companies in the out-of-home and experiential marketing sector over the past five years, with a long track record for launching pioneering new media formats, billboard networks, and creative ways to target consumers. Chicago-based MobiZone Inc. was recently founded by Nagle, former CMO of Kameleon Technologies, to create Bluetooth networks and partnerships with key players in the mobile marketing and out of home media space in the United States.
