Below are summaries of four draft n router reviews.
Apple AirPort Extreme
For those running a Mac network, Apple's Airport Extreme is the obvious choice. At $179, this router is a bit on the expensive side, but its ability to operate at 5 GHz and the inclusion of a USB port for sharing a printer or storage device are both nice. We do wish this model had Gigabit LAN ports and a Web-based administration interface, however.
D-Link Xtreme N Gigabit Router (DIR-655)
D-Link's offering packs on the features, such as QoS monitoring. It's also quite fast, when transferring data over short distances, thanks to the inclusion of Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. However, the router's complex Web administration interface may deter some users.
Linksys WRT150N Wireless-N Home Router
This low-priced router offers a good combination of speed and an easy-to-use interface. The WRT150N lacks a few key features, such as Gigabit ethernet, and has a limited top-end speed, but for those looking to set up a home network on a budget, Linksys's router is a solid choice.
Netgear RangeMax NEXT Wireless Router (WNR834B)
The Netgear Rangemax NEXT Wireless Router is easy-to-use, and gets good speeds even at long distances. Unfortunately, the router's performance is lacking at short distances and link stability is poor at all distances. The Rangemax is also lacking in the way of extra features.
