The Amiga guru with a dragon obsession
by Guy J Kewney | posted on 16 December 2006
This is actually a plea for help. Somewhere in my memory is an incident when I met one of the founders of the Amiga - a 1980s games machine. I am pretty sure it was Jay Miner I met, and my memory of him was that he had a serious obsession with dragons.
The trouble is, all the biogs of Jay fail to mention this.
The Amiga was pretty much the foundation of today's games computer, and many of the inventions Jay put into it - from sprites to multi-tasking, from multi-processor machines to direct memory access video - are taken for granted by today's games designers.
I'm just having trouble accepting that the dragon-mania I remember could have gone unnoticed by anybody who wrote about him.
Am I thinking of someone else? or was the dragon issue one he was shy about mentioning?
