HD TVs mean the smartphone becomes a useable PC, says Nokia

A year ago, the idea of using a television set as a display for a personal computer would have been a joke. But Steve Litchfield, evangelist for the Symbian smartphone operating system, has been looking into the future of the Nokia N93 phone, and thinks it's a workable PC.

In the future, with high definition televisions becoming common, a display with enough resolution to show word processing text will be easily found.

And with TV-Out features on phones like the N93, thinks Litchfield, you'll be able to take a compact Bluetooth keyboard on your travels instead of a personal computer - and plug it into the phone, and the phone into the TV in your hotel room, and get serious work done.
