Smartphones in the enterprise: still a minority interest? Smartphone Summit 2005 may reveal all

by Staff Writer | posted on 12 September 2005

The Smartphone Summit 2005 will be held in San Francisco's W Hotel on  September  26 - and the organisers are still drumming up delegates. Is the smartphone still and outcast in the enterprise?

The conference has many giveaway signs that as far as the IT establishment is concerned, the smartphone is just a toy, not a business tool. There's the fact that the show runs only for a day, the fact that there are only three sponsors - and one of those is Symbian - and above all, the fact that only two weeks before the show, they're still offering a discount for "early" online booking

Nonetheless, if you're in the Bay Area at the end of the month, it might turn out to be a valuable project. Speakers include:-

  • Electronic Arts - Jay Miller - Director Mobile Strategic Division
  • Motricity - Jud Bowman - Chief Technology Officer
  • Qualcomm - Mike Yuen - Director, Gaming Group, QUALCOMM Internet Services
  • Nellymoser - John Puterbaugh, Ph.D. - CEO and Founder
  • JupiterResearch - Julie Ask - Research Director and Senior Analyst
  • Jamster GmbH - Thomas Richter - Director of Content Sourcing
  • Qpass - Scott Blanksteen - Senior Director, Corporate Development
