WiMAX, ZigBee, UWB and Wireless LAN Tutorials Come to GSPx 2005

NEWTON, Mass., Aug. 30 - Global Technology Conferences today announced three wireless tutorials for GSPx 2005. The tutorials will cover WiMAX, ZigBee, UWB and Wireless LAN. GSPx, the signal processing conference and expo, will take place October 24-27 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California.

"Wireless technology is pervasive in our daily lives, with people accessing content at work, home, in their cars and even on airplanes," said Dr. Amnon Aliphas, GSPx chair. "These tutorials will provide attendees with direct access to the latest developments."

The WiMAX Tutorial will cover WiMAX for the Fixed Wireless Access application and the underlying principles of Mobile Broadband Access based on IEEE802.16. Naftali Chayat, [left]Chief Scientist with Alvarion, will lead the tutorial. Since 1993, Chayat has helped develop wireless standards including IEEE802.11 and IEEE802.16.

Patrick Kinney will lead the UWB and ZigBee Tutorial. He will review standards and technologies from ZigBee Alliance and Ultra Wideband initiatives including WiMedia, Wireless USB and the UWB Forum.  Previously, Kinney was VP of Communication Technologies at Invensys. He is the co-vice chair and secretary of the IEEE 802.15 working group for Wireless Personal Area Networks and secretary of ZigBee Alliance.

Dr. Benny Bing of the Georgia Institute of Technology will deliver the Advances in Wireless Local Area Networks Tutorial. He will:
