Mouse-driven "tablet" camera shows up in Australia - October launch, says Kodak.

While some have been weeping into their beer over Kodak's failure to launch a WiFi camera, others have found it - at aPhoto Imaging World  show in Australia.

The product is the EasyShare One, which will cost "about $1,000" - Australian dollars, that is - "later this year, according to Australian IT . It originally appeared at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, and it seems some people are getting impatient. Specifically, blogger Mike Outmesguine was complaining that his Wall Street Journal was naming October as the date for release.

The surprise, it seems, is that the WiFi which Kodak was boasting about, appears to be provided by an add-in card - SDIO format - which implies that in fact, it could be Bluetooth as easily as WiFi. Either way, the wireless allows you to load your photos to another computer without finding the right cable.

The plan is to have wireless photo kiosks, to print your photos there and then.

According to Vincent Blake of Australian IT, there's an extra feature: a touch screen (click on "experience it" to see how it works). You use this to control the camera. The menu, instead of forcing you to muck about with a games controller button, can be picked as if with a mouse, using a stylus.
