New Orange single number service helps business manage multiple mobile devices

by Staff Writer | posted on 24 January 2005

London, 24th January, 2005.  Orange UK today announces a new business service, Orange Single Number. Orange Single Number enables two separate mobile devices, for example a mobile phone and a BlackBerry or carphone to be connected via a single mobile number. The simple system allows customers to direct calls to their preferred device by switching off the other device, removing the need to swap SIMs or divert calls.

Ideal for fleet companies and fitted carphone users, Single Number provides a cost effective and easy to use solution for keeping in touch with the office and customers while on the road.  Contacts are able to reach the person wherever they are by dialling one phone number, whilst ensuring the executive is able to use the most appropriate device.

Single Number also simplifies the visibility and management of costs for business by providing a single voice and data bill for both devices and line rental costs are reduced as the number of multiple subscriptions are reduced.

Orange Single Number allows users to:

·        Join two devices via a single voice and data plan

·        Receive voice calls on the device of choice with no complicated code entry (simply turn one device off to trigger solution)

·        Use a single voice mail box

·        Receive a single airtime bill including data usage for 3G, GPRS or HSCSD

·        Continue to use Orange Value-Added Services such as Line 2 and Everyphone

Companies including Volvo IT (Great Britain) Limited have taken part in trials of Orange Single Number.

“Orange Single Number represents great value to business - the service itself is simple and easy to use and businesses need to give only one telephone number to their contacts. Line rental costs are also reduced and simplified as the customer receives one bill for voice and data,” commented Shaun Orpen, marketing director, Orange Business Solutions UK.

This solution is available only through Orange Business Solutions. There is a one-time £30 set-up cost along with a £3 a month subscription fee.
