Realm Systems Mobilizes the Enterprise Network

Salt Lake City, Utah -- January 10, 2005 – Realm Systems today introduced a new mobile computing platform that provides the enterprise with a complete framework to mobilize the enterprise workforce and simultaneously provide safe and secure mobility to the corporate end user, wherever they may be. The platform consists of two key elements – the Realm Mobile Personal Server (MPS) and the Realm SOBA Router. Together, they comprise a next-generation computing platform that radically simplifies the secure delivery of desktop and enterprise applications and services to mobile corporate end users.

Using Realm Systems' Mobile Personal Server, a device the size of a small cell phone, corporate end users can safely and securely access their enterprise applications any place, any time on any available PC. The Realm MPS is the world's first and only easy-to-use, secure, USB powered computing device that can be used any place, any time, on any operating system. It comes with an embedded operating system with up to 64MB of DRAM, dual PowerPC processors, up to 1GB of flash using either an SD expansion slot or up to a 20GB hard drive. Truly a server that fits in your pocket, the Realm MPS enables the enterprise to deliver the benefits of truly secure mobile computing to their workforce, wherever they may go. Using a built-in biometric identification system and complete password protection, the MPS extends the corporate domain of security and administration by authenticating the approved user through a 2048-bit encrypted VPN tunnel which is established every time the MPS is connected to a computer with an Internet connection. This provides true end-point secure access to files, applications and enterprise services without jeopardizing confidential enterprise data, or requiring any software to be installed on the host.

The Realm SOBA Router is a centralized back-end system that maximizes desktop control and security for thousands of mobile personal servers, while significantly lowering desktop maintenance costs. Designed to provide IT managers with a greater degree of control over user desktops, the SOBA router makes it easy to deploy and manage employee applications across the entire workforce from one single point of contact through a distributed desktop environment. The SOBA router can be used to easily deploy and safely provision Web services to employees, partners, and customers, according to their approved level of access.

Each mobile personal server is secured with the user's thumbprint, user name and password and authenticated by the SOBA router every time a connection is made. Should an MPS be lost or stolen, the SOBA router can render the missing device useless in a few seconds. And, since the SOBA router saves an exact duplicate of the enterprise users' desktop environment, which includes personal server applications, data, and desktop look and feel, a missing MPS can be inexpensively replaced in a few minutes.
