Pace is currently (February 2002) testing set-top boxes, using in-home wireless to link computers to the Internet. The technology is based on the DECT cordless telephone standard. The test is being run with both NTL and Telewest cable companies in the UK.
The Broadband Wireless Internet Forum (BWIF), describes itself as "a program of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization (IEEE-ISTO), is an association of industry-leading companies," according to its Web site. "Members of BWIF are committed to drive product roadmaps that will lower product costs, simplify deployment of advanced services, and ensure the availability of interoperable solutions."
