Creating a better world with wireless networking
by Guy Kewney | posted on 30 December 2002
A group of idealists has published a Manifesto. "A global wireless network is within our grasp," they write.
The manifesto itself explains what they are hoping to achieve.
Clearly inspired by initiatives like Consume.Net this is quite possibly going to be dismissed by many hard-headed business types as "typical West Coast hippy stuff" and there's little doubt it's inspired by that culture, too!
"Humanity is on the verge of a turning point because the Internet has transformed the way humans relate with one another. All communication can be traced to a human relationship, whether it's lovers exchanging instant messages or teenagers sharing music. The Internet has given us the ability to communicate faster and more cheaply than ever before in history."
My own experience of groups like this is that they seldom achieve their apparent potential, and instead, people emerge from them who become leaders in the industry; so I'll try to watch this one.
