World's first 3T handset misses headlines

How did we miss this? The world's first converged 3T handset has been announced by Bango.net - greeted with such fanfare a month or so ago here - and yet we didn't report it?

Sniffer

In a top secret report which should have reached Sniffer last week, embargoed for the weekend, stray packets appear to confirm that the handset is a multi-media, multi-mode device that functions as a GSM/GPRS/3G phone, mini colour TV and Tea mug, all in one.

And would Sniffer have published it? Of course! - the phone features a prominent Bango button on the keypad enabling rapid, single key access to any Mobile Internet content. And furthermore, support for micro-payments is built in.

"Imagine being able to use the same device to phone home, surf the Internet, play video clips and drink your favourite cuppa," said its inventor, Ray Anderson CEO of Bango.net. "It will prove as much of a hit on the football terraces where a hot drink goes down a real treat in cold weather as on a busy executive's desk to enhance productivity."

Recharging the handset (it says in what appear to be very bad packets indeed) is easy thanks to the bi-directional entropy based thermal power source. Simply fill the mug with a hot liquid and wait a few seconds. The advanced ceramic construction of the handset exploits the temperature differential between the outer and inner surfaces to increase entropy. In hot countries, you can charge with cold liquids such as iced-tea and Slush-Puppie.

When roaming, you can use other hot liquids such as gluhwein, sake, Bovril or reindeer milk, enabling efficient utilization of any content. The phone has a unique range of audio, video and graphics support including MP3, MPEG-4, Gif, Tif, Wif and SnIFF.

Recent guidelines from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents recommend that you do not hold the phone while driving as the contents may be hot! Retail price for the phone is £9.99 and available from leading retailers or online at www.bango.net with special pricing for WAP users.
