No, there isn't a change of leadership in the wireless industry; just a rather simple embarrassment over
"In an story posted earlier Wednesday on SBN, it was incorrectly reported that JEDEC is assuming control of the 802.11 standard from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) organization," admitted Semiconductor Business News today.
In fact, the web site now reports, JEDEC - (the organisation formerly known as the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council) - is not, as originally reported, "trying to wrest control of WLAN technology from the 802 committee of the IEEE ... " but "working on product implementation" -
