A "strategic relationship" has been revealed between wireless specialist, TDK Systems, and Microsoft. TDK will now provide MS Bluetooth software with its "Go Blue" range of Bluetooth hardware - both USB and PC Card devices. It's not rocket science; just a way of replacing existing cables with wireless.

The plan is to make life easier for organisations which have standardised on Microsoft, and who want to "wireless-enable" devices like keyboards, mice and joysticks. Microsoft itself recently went through this process with the launch of its wireless desktop - keyboard and mouse in a bundle, with Bluetooth access point connected to the PC.

Standard marketing announcement quotes have been provided: "Windows XP Bluetooth cable-replacing technology is a key contributor in bringing Bluetooth wireless technology to market and is one of the first steps in realising the potential of Bluetooth," said Dr. Michael W. Foley, Wireless Architect, Microsoft. "We have been working with TDK Systems for some time to ensure our Bluetooth protocol stack communicates with as many products as possible. We're delighted that TDK intends to incorporate our Bluetooth functionality into its own range of successful devices."

"Microsoft's endorsement of Bluetooth will do much to increase the development and use of wireless technologies," said Nick Hunn, managing director at TDK Systems. "Having already worked with Microsoft, we have an advantage because we know our products already have their seal of approval and have passed the necessary tests. This means we should be able to offer these products to users faster than other manufacturers."

Users will be able to obtain the software directly from TDK Systems by registering on its web site at www.tdksystems.com. The software is available from late November.
