Sony-Ericsson's T300: they don't write numbers like that ...

They call it "humanising the phone." Check out the site; it looks more like "Homer Simpson Meets The Young Ones". The word "disgusting" comes to mind. Is it April 1st, suddenly? And where is the phone?

The phone is the Sony-Ericsson new toy, the T300 phone, combined with the MCA-25 CommuniCam; and the combination is "something to drool over." Yes, you got that right; you're supposed to emulate Homer Simpson thinking of lard, and dribble saliva down your front. It's trendy!

pulled from Sony-Ericsson's spoof web site for the T300. Except the name for it is isn't the T300. No, that's boring; instead, the combination of the two is The Bar. Or, as Kerry Matheson puts it, THE BAR. Much more "humanised" don't you think?

Kerry Matheson, Marketing Manager for Sony Ericsson UK and Ireland, said: "The dictionary defines drool as showing an excessive appreciation for something and we wanted to create lust and desire for THE BAR. By creating a viral drool subculture we can target style leaders and opinion formers who understand the humour, and will help create a desire and buzz for THE BAR."

The website was allegedly created by a mythical east end teenage drooler known as "Jag". Jag believes: "Drooling is a personal form of expression. The people who started the trend in the US are no different to hipsters wearing designer labels or lusting after gadgets and people. In every culture drooling has a meaning from being a sacred act to being a sign of great health."

The T300 costs £29.99 with contract, while the bundled package (i.e. phone plus camera) costs £39.99 to £79.99 with contract, available from all major mobile phone retail outlets.
