Jabra near launch of Bluetooth universal "hands-free" headset
by Guy Kewney | posted on 13 December 2002
The biggest disappointment of the SPV launch was, of course, the technical failings which meant HTC couldn't build Bluetooth into the phone. Jabra managed to repair that with a design that simply plugged into the ordinary stereo headset socket - it looks to ship shortly.
The original story suggested that Jabra would be hard put to it to ship its wireless headset before Christmas; but evaluation samples are now said to be available in Europe.

The device isn't stereo, of course; and it doesn't give the SPV any ability to talk to a PC over wireless; but at least it makes it possible for drivers to use the phone safely without getting the gear-shift tangled up in cables.
Jabra hopes to get review samples out in the next couple of weeks.
