Hate Palm backlight? Use a pen-torch, instead
by Guy Kewney | posted on 09 January 2003
Pens with little lights in them (for making notes in dark lecture halls) are starting to be commonplace; so why not have one that works for PDA users, too? Belkin to the rescue!
The Penlight Stylus shines a bright (but not too bright!) white light that you direct to your PDA screen when you need extra illumination.

This is probably Belkin's way of admitting that for many users, the power-saving mode that Palm PDAs now use for backlighting, isn't terribly easy to read, because they call this "an easy way to help reduce eyestrain."
It also extends the life of your PDA battery by avoiding the heavy power draw of your PDA's backlight settings. Featuring a convenient "twist-on" power switch, the Penlight provides a quick and easy mobile solution. Full details on Belkin's own Web pages.
